  • Allison Wu, MD, MPH is Principal Investigator of the Wunderfull Lab. She is a clinician-researcher board certified in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition as well as obesity medicine. Her focus is on epidemiology and health services research in pediatric nutrition and obesity. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship at Mass General Hospital for Children. Her favorite “food is medicine”: mangos.

  • Kieley Chapman, MD completed her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, & Nutrition at Boston Children's Hospital and in Integrative Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Her focus is on characterizing the relationship between food insecurity, dietary quality, and diet-related chronic diseases in children. She is involved in the design and evaluation of several, family-centered Food is Medicine interventions. Her favorite "food is medicine" is chunky peanut butter.   • Arlette Caballero-Gonzalez completed her BA in Psychology at Boston University, and is currently working as a Program Coordinator for the Wunderfull Lab to gain knowledge and experience before applying to a Psychology Masters program. Her favorite “food is medicine”: kale salad with salmon.

  • Catalina is a 1st year resident in pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center. She is originally from Argentina and has an interest in the intersection of health disparities and nutrition. She has an interest in the care of children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Her favorite “food is medicine”: the use of fiber in microbiome diversity.

  • Yasie Nejad is an MPH/RD candidate at the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a background in biology and a strong interest in chronic disease prevention and management. She brings prior experience in direct patient care at Boston Children's Hospital and is passionate about the role of nutrition in improving patient outcomes. As a future registered dietitian and physician, Yasie is particularly focused on Food is Medicine initiatives, aiming to bridge clinical nutrition and public health through evidence-based research. As part of her MPH Practicum, she is working with the Wunderfull Lab to deepen her understanding of how nutrition, medicine, and public health intersect. Her favorite "food is medicine": passionfruit!

  • Nemo Lee graduated from Boston University with a degree in Biology on the Pre-med track, and she is working as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Wunderfull Lab. Passionate about exploring the science behind human health and disease, Nemo is excited to gain further hands-on experience in clinical and community-based research before applying to medical school. Her favorite "food is medicine": kiwi.

  • Jisu Yi is currently a senior majoring in Health Science and is on the pre-nursing track at Boston University. She is working towards her goal of becoming a neonatal nurse practitioner and is currently working with the Wunderfull Lab hoping to learn more about health services in regards to pediatric nutrition and gain hands-on experience. Her favorite "food is medicine": apples with greek yogurt!

FORMER LAB MEMBERS

  • Nisha Dalvie, MD is a pediatric resident in the Boston Combined Residency Program. Her main research interests are addressing barriers to maternal-fetal health equity, especially for families of color, with a focus on nutrition, health literacy, and complex care services. Her favorite “food is medicine” is a classic Indian drink called lassi (even better with her mom’s homemade yogurt)! Wunderfull next step: Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Health Services Research Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

  • Erica Di Battista, BS, is a Boston University graduate. As part of her undergraduate degree in Human Physiology, she completed her senior year internship with Dr. Wu to gain clinical valuable research experience. Her favorite "food is medicine": watermelon. Wunderfull Next Step: M.D. and M.B.A. candidate at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada.

  • Marissa Huggins is an MPH candidate in the Nutrition Department at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. At Harvard, she is concentrating on Obesity Epidemiology and Prevention, applying her clinical research background exploring the biological basis of chronic disease. Marissa previously conducted clinical research in the field of women’s health, studying bacterial characteristics leading to recurrent urinary tract infections, and the field of maternal-fetal health, examining the influence of maternal diabesity on placental development and nutrient transport to the fetus. Her favorite “food is medicine:” blackberries! Wunderfull next step: M.D. candidate at Thomas F. Frist Jr. College of Medicine.

  • Hsin-Tao (Grace) Lin is a Master of Public Health candidate at Boston University, concentrating in Epidemiology & Biostatistics and Pharmaceutical Access, Development, and Delivery. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a strong foundation in nutrition and public health. Grace is passionate about nutritional epidemiology and is especially interested in understanding how dietary patterns influence chronic disease risk. She hopes to contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies that promote healthier eating and prevent nutrition-related illnesses. Her favorite example of "food as medicine"? Peaches.
